Ok, my interview confirmation said: you have an interview with Kele. I’ve studied for an interview based on the lead singer and guitarrist and when I arrived at venue the tour manager said that Gordon was ready to chat with me.

So this interview it’s 80% improvvisation!

Gordon Moakes is the bassist of the english group Bloc Party.

Bloc Party are a British indie rock band, composed of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums, backing vocals). Their brand of music is said to have been drawn from such bands as The Cure,Mogwai, Siouxsie and the Banshees. The band was formed at the 1999 Reading Festival by Okereke and Lissack. They went through a variety of names before settling on Bloc Party in 2003. Moakes joined the band after answering an advert in NME magazine, while Tong was picked via an audition. Bloc Party got their break by giving BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq and Franz Ferdinand’s lead singer, Alex Kapranos, a copy of their demo “She’s Hearing Voices”. In February 2005, the band released their debut album Silent Alarm. It was critically acclaimed and was named ‘Indie Album of the Year’ at the 2006 PLUG Awards and NME Album of the year which both honour indie music. That year, the record was also certified platinum in Britain. The band built on this success in 2007 with the release of their second studio album, A Weekend in the City, which reached a peak of number two in the UK Albums Chart and number twelve in the Billboard 200. In August 2008, Bloc Party released their third studio record, Intimacy. The band went on a hiatus in October 2009 to focus on side projects, and reunited in September 2011, releasing their fourth album, Four, in 2012. As of May 2012, Bloc Party have sold two million albums worldwide.

Zulu Winter weren’t at Frequency Festival 2012, but we have had the possibility of interviewing them in Bologna before the Keane’s supporting gig act.

Zulu Winter are a five piece Indie rock band formed in London in 2011. The band consists of Will Daunt (vocals & guitar), Iain Lock (backing vocals and bass), Dom Millard (keyboards), Henry Walton (guitar) and Guy Henderson (drums).The band released their debut album “Language” on the 14 May 2012 on Play It Again Sam, which has been received very well in both the U.K. and the U.S. The band most recently won Steve Lamacq’s Rebel Playlist competition on his BBC 6 Music radio show, where the band’s latest single, “Key To My Heart” was voted to get played on each daytime programme the following week.

Vaccines!

We saw them in Italy in September near Verona, and on the 28th September they were in a promo-day in Milan. So we had a chat with Justin and Freddie from the Vaccines after the cancelled interview from Frequency Festival 2011 due Justin vocal chords illness… So only more than a year to catch them! ;)

The Vaccines are an English indie rock band who formed in West London in 2010. The band’s debut album, What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?, was released through Columbia Records on 14 March 2011 and reached number 4 in the UK Album Chart. They drew comparisons to Ramones, The Strokes and The Jesus And Mary Chain. The band, however, has spoken of influences ranging from “‘50s rock ‘n’ roll to 80s American hardcore and good pop music”. They have opened for The Walkmen, The Stone Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Arcade Fire. Their second studio album Come of Age was released in the UK on 3 September 2012.

She’s on her second european tour, just now. Here’s our via skype interview with Terra Naomi.

Terra Naomi is an alternative, rock, and pop artist, who rose to fame through a performance of her song “Say It’s Possible” on the video sharing site YouTube. Originally from New York State, but currently based in Los Angeles, she writes and performs her own songs, and plays the guitar and piano.

I think that in Italy we only listen to Kaizers Orchestra in Emilia or something, but in 30km we are 3 people. I asked to Janove Ottensen during Frequency Festival 2011 why they don’t come in Italy and he said that a promoter try to bring them in Milan, but then he didn’t give another answer. So Kaizers prefer to being concentrate in the states that love the band. And coming in Italy for holiday (we had a long conversation about tuscan red wines)

The first part of the tape is totally fucked: we have the main stage totally in front of us and the frequency of voice are on the amplificators of somewhat band who played in that time. Skip to the last minute, please. If I try to clean audio… I loose everything. I will transcript this asap, and only in english I think because really seems that no one is interested in this amazing band.

Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock group formed on January 1, 2000.The two leading members, vocalist Janove Ottesen and guitarist Geir Zahl, had known each other for years, and first played together in a band called Blod, Snått & Juling (Blood, Snot & Beating) in 1989.

Kaizers Orchestra are notable for being among the first non-black metal Norwegian bands or artists singing in their native language to become popular beyond Scandinavia. To other Norwegians, the band is instantly recognizable both because of their unique, unpredictable style, and because of vocalist Ottesen’s distinctive Jæren dialect, shared by four of the other band members.

“Do you want to interview someone from Wilco?” my friend Micro asked me. And I said: “well, why not, you know”. She told me that they do one or zero interview in all venues… and in Bologna there were no requests. Cool, I thought.

Then I had an interview with Nels Cline. At 3 pm, and while I was on the motorway a big piece of an accident car hit my windshield glass or how do you fuck call it. But well, it’s my karma. When I finally arrived at Estragon Nels was extremely cool: he started to told me that he remembered a bit different Bologna (“Now we are in the middle of Nowhere” “er, yes. The center isn’t so far, though”) and we spoke about wine. It’s nice, because I’m very ahem… informed in.

Cline was named the 82nd greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in November 2011, and the 43rd greatest guitarist of all time by Spin magazine in May 2012. One of those interviews where everybody hated me.

I’ve met again Nels in the press room in St. Poelten one month ago. He was drinking coffee and doing nothing, then he told me that he remembered me. And “why you are in Austria if you are italian?”. Long story, as usual.

[That’s my first totally fangirling interview. Aha!]

I mean. One of the first groups for who I travelling a lot before R.E.M, Muse and Editors were Bush. I saw Bush at Frequency Festival e via Edel Music I have the chance to interview Gavin. I think that last time I was at a Bush’s gig was… ten years ago? more? Well. Too much time. And I was so restless to hear them again. Really.

Gavin Rossdale is one of the most relaxing and outspoken men in music. We talked about the last Bush record and the concert in Milan (yesterday!)

I hope you like this interview. Because I remember that when I was younger I was craving of all their live concert, interview and so on. And Milan’s concert was totally a blast.

Hope to see them again soon in our country.

You know that I prefer so called obscure sound: well, 2:54 album was one of my favourite in this year. Really.

I’ve met them while they were supporting Garbage in Vigevano, a couple of month ago. Nice interview, even if it was interrupted by bells due bucolic-alike-atmosphere.

London based 2:54 are made up of sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow, joined by Joel Porter on bass and Alex Robins on drums. Debut 7” On A Wire/Cold Front was released in March 2011 and they have since released the Scarlet EP in November 2011 and Single ‘You’re Early’ in April 2012. Their debut self-titled album was released in May 2012. Influenced by punk bands, the name 2:54 was taken from the timeline in a Melvins song. 2:54

Well, sometimes I think I have genuine reaction towards artists but… what would they think about me? I told to Steve Marker and Duke Erikson last week in Vigevano that I was kinda scared/nervous because in my fourteen I was really into Garbage and now… wow, I had them in front of me for an interview.

But I hope they don’t think “I’m paranoid” (mmmh, bad joke, sorry). It was a pleasant interview. Hope you like it too.

You need a recap? Garbage is an alternative rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1994. The group consists of Scottish singer Shirley Manson (vocals, guitar) and American musicians Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards) and Butch Vig (drums, percussion). All four members are involved in songwriting and production. The band have counted worldwide album sales of over 17 million units. Not Your Kind of People was released on May 14, 2012 via the band’s own independent label, Stunvolume Records.

Cloud Nothings is a lo-fi, indie rock band from Cleveland, Ohio founded by singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi. It consists of lead singer and guitarist Baldi, drummer Jayson Gerycz, guitarist Joe Boyer,and bassist TJ Duke. The band’s third album Attack On Memory was released on January 24, 2012.
